About me

My name is Mojgan Aghakhanloo and I am a VITA-Origins postdoctoral fellow at the University of Virginia.

I was born on April 14 1991, in Tehran, Iran. I lived in Tehran till I was 22 years old. Then I moved to the US to do my graduate work at Florida State University. During my time in Florida, I focused my research on constraining the evolution of massive stars. It was during this period that I met my husband, Murali, who now works as a Computational Scientist at ORNL.

After completing my Ph.D. in 2020, I joined the University of Arizona as a postdoctoral researcher. During the three years I spent in Arizona, I gained observational skills along with meeting talented researchers. Recently, I was awarded a fellowship and joined the University of Virginia.

Outside the realm of Astrophysics, I find joy in spending time with my friends, exploring new cities, and immersing myself in diverse cultures. If I manage to find some spare time, I love indulging in activities like swimming and playing the piano.
